WE CAN HELP!!
As you probably
know, our compounding professionals can flavor meds to please any palate –
whether young or elderly people or a cat, colt or kangaroo! But, we can also
make preparations taste bad when necessary. For example, we can formulate
topical sprays, creams and gels that contain Sucrose Octaacetate, a sugar
derivative that has been approved by the FDA as a food additive, but that has
an extremely bitter taste.
Topical Sucrose
Octaacetate can be applied to the nails or thumb as a deterrent to biting or
sucking. While it tastes quite bad, Sucrose Octaacetate is not likely to burn
or irritate the mouth as some home remedies containing hot substances can do.
Our compounding
professionals can also prepare a topical “anti-lick” spray with a hot pepper
and/or bitter taste that animals do not like. Once an animal licks an area that
has been sprayed, he is unlikely to lick the area again.
