Glaucoma-No Symptoms!

Glaucoma is the leading cause of preventable blindness. The most common type of glaucoma (open-angle glaucoma) often has no symptoms other than slow vision loss. Angle-closure glaucoma, although rare, is a medical emergency and its symptoms include eye pain with nausea and sudden visual disturbance. Glaucoma causes damage to your eye's optic nerve and gets worse over time. It's often linked to a buildup of pressure inside your eye. If untreated or uncontrolled, glaucoma first causes peripheral vision loss and eventually can lead to blindness. Be sure to have a regular eye examination to preserve your vision. Glaucoma can be treated with eye drops that lower intraocular pressure.
