Depression and Your Thyroid

If you are one of the millions of people who live with depression, you are probably intimately familiar with the symptoms which include fatigue, lethargy, sadness, guilt, sudden or uncontrollable crying, irritability, and mood swings. One thing you may not know, though, is that depression can be a symptom of a different disorder, hypothyroidism. Ask our pharmacist for more information and talk to your doctor if you experience the symptoms of depression. Women are more vulnerable to thyroid imbalances due to hormonal fluctuations throughout their lives (during puberty, pregnancy, and menopause, and when taking birth control pills). Many symptoms of hypothyroidism and menopause overlap. Ask our pharmacist if you might benefit from thyroid therapy. We will work with your doctor to customize medications that meet your specific needs.
