Good Health Starts in the Gut

A nutraceutical is a fortified food or dietary supplement that provides health benefits in addition to its basic nutritional value, and it may help to treat or prevent a disease. Nutraceuticals which help support gastrointestinal (GI) health - like probiotics, digestive enzymes and bitters, glutamine, and antimicrobials - are some of the most recommended of all supplemental nutrients. Because the environment within the gut is highly susceptible to significant changes in pH, composition, solubility, and reactivity of each preparation, we must pay attention to when we take certain nutraceuticals. For example, it’s good to take probiotics with meals. Digestive enzymes are best taken 5-10 minutes before meals to support digestion, and glutamine should be taken between meals. Ask our professional staff which GI supplements are best for you!
