BEFORE You Give Your Pet a Medication

Always check with your veterinarian BEFORE giving your pet any type of medication. Many drugs that are commonly used by people and are often thought to be “safe” – like Tylenol®, Advil®, or aspirin – can be poisonous and even fatal to a dog or cat. There are significant differences in how different species and breeds absorb, break down, and eliminate medications. For example, a flea medication that was prescribed for your poodle may not be safe for your collie, even if they are the same weight. And, dogs and cats need different medications and dosing schedules. Keep your animals healthy and safe – talk to your veterinarian. And, if you have problems giving medications to your furry, feathered, or scaly friends, talk to our compounding pharmacist. We will work together with you and your veterinarian to customize a medication that is purr-fect for your pet!
